Matrescence Australia is a full spectrum doula service that provides education as well as physical and emotional support to women and birthing people, no matter the outcome of pregnancy.
Matrescence means ‘the birth of a mother’, it is a period of monumental transition – often encompassing physical, emotional, and spiritual shifts. Founded by Andrea Dickson on the principal that everyone, no matter their circumstances, is deserving of holistic, unbiased, and unwavering, support, Andrea knows how important and meaningful having someone there to help nurture, guide and walk alongside you as navigate this transition is.
Andrea believes that education, thoughtful preparation, and gentle support are the foundations that help a woman or birthing person, not only navigate this period but to do so feeling empowered, informed, and capable of advocating themselves and their baby in a system and culture that often neglects or completely omits how a woman or birthing person feels during the birth experience.

MATRESCENCE - BIRTH AND POSTPARTUM SUPPORT

Taking you right through from pregnancy, birth and to postpartum - complete support during the first stages of your Matrescence.
This package includes:
-emotional, education and informational support throughout this period of transition
-access to birth support tools including but not limited to: birth acu-comb, rebozo, massage and essential oils kits, Elle TENS Plus machine hire (does not include electrodes - supplied but charged at an additional $22.50), birth ball etc.
-attendance at your birth
-preparation for postpartum
-birth debriefing
-practical support during postpartum including assistance with caring for bub, infant feeding support, nutritious meals cooked for you in your home
-birth preparation & postpartum support gift hamper - including pregnancy bath soak, peri bottle and postpartum sitz

- 24/7 On call support from 38 weeks until you meet your baby

A beautiful combination of pregnancy and birth support but with a little extra loving during the first 12 weeks postpartum.

-This package includes 5 postpartum support sessions

PREGNANCY AND INFANT LOSS SUPPORT

Providing one on one emotional support and companionship during your loss.
This assistance includes discussing your individual support requirements, debriefing, as well as honoring your parenthood and baby.
Assistance can also be provided with memory making, attendance at your birth (in circumstances of termination for medical reasons and known stillbirth) and subsequent hospital appointments as well as support navigating the hospital system and referrals to support networks and information.
