(n.) Matrescence is the physical, emotional, hormonal and social transition to becoming a mother.
The Matrescence Australia Philosophy
Pregnancy, birth and the first few months spent learning about your precious baby are a sacred and profound time in your lives and I feel deeply honored and privileged to be able to support families during this period.
As a Doula, I commit to the families that I work with that I will provide holistic, unbiased, and unwavering support to them during this transition.
I believe that birth is a rite of passage and how you choose to treat your pregnancy, birth your baby, and care for your newborn creates the foundation for their life, and your life together as a family.
Sadly, how a mother feels when she births, is often missing (or completely omitted) from the equation. It does however have a direct impact on both her interactions with her newborn and with her view of herself as a new mother.
Matrescence means ‘the birth of a mother’, it is a period of monumental transition – often encompassing physical, emotional, and spiritual shifts for a woman.
Education and the right support are the foundations that help a woman not only navigate this period but to do so feeling empowered, informed, and capable of advocating for herself and her baby.
